If you’re new to chartered fishing trips, you may have some questions. View our FAQ below. Also feel free to email us any questions using the contact form.
Q: Where are the boats?
A: The boats “FAT KAT” is located at the Baileys Harbor Town Marina on the first finger pier of the main dock.
Q: What should I bring on the fishing charter?
A: A fishing license along with a trout and salmon stamp is required for anyone 16 years old or older. The best place to get those licenses is on the Wisconsin DNR website. The 2-day license option is the most affordable. Here is a list of recommended equipment. We provide all necessary fishing equipment, including rods, reels, lures, etc. Snacks and beverages are not provided so bring whatever you would like. If you do have a favorite rod or lucky lure, you are more than welcome to bring them along as well.
Q: What kinds of fish can I catch on the fishing charter?
A: Our charters offer a wide variety of fish, including King Salmon, Steelhead, Brown Trout and Lake Trout. The types of fish available are dependent on the seasonal migratory patterns of the fish as well as weather conditions.
Q: How long do the fishing charter trips last?
A: We offer trips that last either 3, 5, or 8 hours. You can find more information on our fishing charter trip pricing page.
Q: What is the likelihood of catching a fish on the charter?
A: Our captains and crew are exceptionally skilled and experienced. We work very hard to always give you the best chances of coming home with fish. If you do a 5 hour trip in season your chances are very good. I would say we average around a dozen fish and as many as 30. Some days are better than others so in the end you are rolling the dice just like everyone else. While we cannot put a number on how many fish you are likely to catch, we will do everything we can to make sure your fishing trip is a productive one.
Q: Am I responsible for cleaning the fish that I catch on the charter?
A: Your first mate will clean all your fish for you and drop them into bags to take home. If you are interested in full fish processing (filets, steaks, smoked, vacuum bagged and fresh or frozen) we can accommodate that process through our partners at The Baileys Harbor Fish Company for an additional fee.
